Mitchelton State High School offers a Montessori Program for our students in Years 7, 8 and 9. Established in 2017, we have been working closely with the Montessori teachers from Grovely State School to develop and deliver a seamless high school Montessori program for all core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities while still engaging in Excellence programs, Literacy, RISE and Electives.

Montessori at MSHS offers a unique way of learning and engaging with the Australian Curriculum.  Based on the principle that students are naturally curious learners, the Montessori Method enables in-depth exploration of areas of individual interest encouraging a high degree of autonomy.  Learning in Montessori is designed to foster natural growth and independence as students learn key concepts in ways that connect their learning in authentic ways to the world around them.  Students are encouraged to stretch themselves, extending their learning by taking responsible risks in a safe and supportive community of learners.
