Welcome to the Mitchelton Homestay Family Program
Interested in Homestay and creating a home away from home?
Come and join the wonderful mix of homestay families that is our program - families with children, couples, retirees, single parents, and individuals. If you can offer a friendly, clean, and supportive home for a student, we would love to hear from you.
Being a homestay family is a rewarding experience. You'll help students settle into a new culture, feel comfortable in their new surroundings, and enjoy life in Australia. Along the way, many hosts build lasting friendships and enjoy learning about different cultures too.
Our Homestay Coordinator carefully matches students with families that best suit their needs and personalities. Our International Team stays in regular contact with both students and hosts to ensure everyone feels supported.
A reimbursement of $382 per week for costs will be paid on fortnightly basis from school.
After-hours support is also available through our team and the EQI 1800 QStudy service. https://eqi.com.au/student-support/hotline.
What You'll Need to Provide
To become a homestay family, you will need to provide:
- A valid Blue Card for everyone in the home over 18 years of age (assistance is available if needed)
- A private bedroom including: a bed, desk, chair, good lighting, fresh linen, wardrobe and storage space
- Three healthy meals each day, plus access to snacks and fruit
- Internet access
- Access to shared living areas
- A house key or entry passcode for the student
Hosting a student is a wonderful way to share your home, learn about another culture, and make a real difference in a young person's experience in Australia.
