At Mitchelton State High School, assessment supports students to demonstrate what they know, understand, and can do. Assessment may be formal or informal and includes a range of evidence gathered across the learning program. This may include assignments, examinations, classwork, practical tasks, performances, observations, multimodal responses, checklists, teacher notes, conferencing, drafts, and other evidence of learning.

Assessment helps students to:

understand their progress and next steps
receive feedback to improve their learning
demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and understanding in different ways
develop responsibility, independence, and confidence as learners.

understand what students know and can do
provide timely feedback and support
refine teaching and learning
make informed, evidence-based judgements about student achievement.

Assessment Calendars

Assessment calendars provide students and families with an overview of scheduled assessment for each year level and semester. These calendars are designed to support planning, organisation, and communication between students, families and the school.

Please note that assessment dates may be adjusted where required due to changes in learning programs, school events, or student needs. Teachers will communicate any changes directly with students and families.
